
Siyi Wang
Siyi worked with the Research Group in Mathematical Modeling and Program Science from 2020 to 2025, first as a graduate student (MSc thesis, 2020-2022) and then as a Research Data Scientist (2022-2025). For her MSc, she led a difference-in-difference study examining neighborhood-level mobility and COVID-19 cases, under the co-supervision of Prof Rafal Kustra and Dr. Sharmistha Mishra. As a Research Data Scientist, she collaborated with the Unity Health Toronto Knowledge Translation Team and led analyses on a cross-sectional serology study on COVID-19 and essential workers in long-term care homes. Siyi also collaborated with Jesse Knight on methodological contributions to look at hidden biases in duration of sex work. Siyi also led a mathematical modeling study examining mechanisms that lead to rebounds in syphilis epidemics. Siyi holds a Master of Science in Biostatistics and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Economics from the University of Toronto. She is now pursuing a PhD in Developmental Psychology & Education at the University of Toronto.
